About the Review
The Clemson Law Review is an independent student organization edited by undergraduate pre-law students at Clemson University. The Review is not operated, sponsored, or endorsed by Clemson University, and the University is not responsible for the content of this site.
Not legal advice
Everything on this site, including case summaries, articles, interviews, essays, and notes, is published for educational and scholarly purposes. It is not legal advice. Case summaries are written by students and may simplify, omit, or become outdated as the law changes. Reading this site or contacting the Review does not create an attorney-client relationship with anyone. If you need advice about a legal problem, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
Accuracy and opinions
Our editors work to be accurate, but we do not guarantee that anything on the site is complete, correct, or current. Always check primary sources before relying on them. The views expressed in each piece are its author’s own and do not represent the views of the Review, its editors, its faculty advisors, or Clemson University. Using our content
Rights in each published piece are governed by the author’s publication agreement with the Review. The site’s design, name, and logo, and the way material is selected and arranged, belong to the Review. Unless a piece says otherwise, you may:
- read pieces online, download their PDFs, and print copies for personal, educational, or research use;
- share links to any page; and
- quote reasonable excerpts with a proper citation to the Clemson Law Review.
For any other use, including republishing a full piece, selling copies, or using our name or logo, please ask first at lawreview@clemson.edu.
Submissions
When you submit a manuscript or other material, you confirm that it is your original work, that you have the right to submit it, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights or include confidential information you are not allowed to share. Submitting does not guarantee publication. The editors decide what to publish and may suggest or make edits. If we accept a piece, the terms of its publication are set in a separate agreement with the author.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- attempt to break into, disrupt, overload, or get around the security of the site, including Cloudflare’s protections;
- scrape or download the site in bulk in a way that burdens it, other than through ordinary search engine indexing;
- use the site for anything unlawful; or
- pretend to be the Review, its editors, or its authors.
We may block access for anyone who misuses the site.
Links to other sites
Pieces and pages link to court opinions, statutes, and other websites for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it, including the analytics and security services this site relies on.
Disclaimers
The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will always be available or free of errors.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Review, its editors, staff, authors, and advisors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
